The air in Wayanad was buzzing with anticipation today as the MCF AI Lab officially opened its doors, marking a monumental occasion for education and technological advancement in the region. This isn’t just another lab; it’s Wayanad’s very first hands-on Artificial Intelligence laboratory, poised to transform how students engage with the technologies of tomorrow.
The lab was formally inaugurated by Shri. M. V. Shreyams Kumar, Managing Director of Mathrubhumi, highlighting the crucial link between media, technology, and regional development. The ceremony itself was a testament to innovation, featuring a modern, tech-forward opening.

A Glimpse into Tomorrow’s Learning
The MCF AI Lab is a vibrant hub dedicated to the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies. During the inauguration, guests, SMC Members , teachers, and eager students were taken on a captivating tour, revealing the incredible tools at their fingertips:
- Robotics: The highlight was the impressive Humanoid Robot, a marvel of engineering. Alongside it, the charming Otto Robot and DIY Robotic Arms offered students a direct path into mechanical automation. Here, students don’t just study robots; they make them move and think.
- 3D Printing: Ideas in Three Dimensions: Imagination truly takes shape here. With 3D printers and 3D pens, students transform digital designs into tangible objects, while a 2D writing machine showcases precision automation.
- IoT: Connecting the World: The Internet of Things station reveals how everyday objects become ‘smart.’ Equipped with various sensors, Arduino, and NodeMCU microcontrollers, students will learn to build automated systems, turning real-world data into actionable solutions.
- VR & AR: Immersive Worlds: With two Oculus Meta Quest 3s headsets and the AR Globe (PlayShifu Orboot), students step beyond the screen to embark on virtual journeys, making learning interactive and fun.
- Artificial Intelligence: The Brain of the Future: At the heart of it all is the AI curriculum. Following the specialized “Hello AI” syllabus by Edapt, students delve into concepts of Generative AI , Super Intelligence and Agentic AI, preparing them to understand and shape intelligent systems.
- Vertical Farming: Sustainable Tech: The lab features six-pod vertical farming bases. Here, students practically learn about sustainable agriculture, using sensors and automation to grow crops efficiently, connecting tech with environmental responsibility.
- Advanced Tools: The lab also ensures practical skill development with DJI drones for flight training, and other fascinating tools like an Astronomical Telescope, Digital Microscope, and Plasma Globe to broaden scientific curiosity.
